Following a 12 month sabbatical, Jason Plato will return to the series as he looks to cement his record of most wins in the championship as well as adding to his two titles.

For 2019, Plato, switched from Team BMR to Power Maxed Racing after a hugely frustrating and disappointing couple of seasons driving the Subaru Levorg GT.

Out of the 30 races in 2019, Plato scored in all but five and that consistency resulted in 237 points and seventh overall. A win at the final race of the season at Brands Hatch inched the English driver closer to 100 wins. He will start 2021 with 599 starts under his belt and 97 career wins.

STILL GOING STRONG: A day shy of his 52nd birthday, Plato on the road to his 97th BTCC win and proves that age is just a number.

The difficult decision to not race in 2020 was made by Plato and Power Maxed Racing after initial fears over the economy amid the fallout of the global coronavirus pandemic. While Plato and newly signed team-mate Mat Jackson sat out the season, PMR attended a few events over the course of 2020 giving various drivers the chance to pilot the Vauxhall Astra.

The first race of the season will mark Plato's 600th race start having started his BTCC career in 1997.

On returning to the series, Plato has set out his goal to reach 100 career wins.

“Obviously 2020 was less than ideal for many of us but it gave me time to put a lot of things into perspective. It’s the longest I’ve been without racing, and it’s made me appreciate just how much I love it, and I have really missed my team. I’m excited about the future with Power Maxed Car Care Racing; winning the final race in 2019 has lit a fire underneath me, so I’m more than ready to get back out and win my 100th race!”

For 2021, PMR have announced their will field a two-car assault but the identity of his team-mate for the upcoming season is still to be revealed.
