Chilton, who debuted in the BTCC in 2002, makes the switch from BTC Racing to Ciceley Motorsport to partner Adam Morgan. After running the Mercedes Benz A-Class for a number of seasons, Ciceley will run a pair of BMW 330i M Sports instead.

Chilton, who competed in the BTCC from 2002 to 2011, took a five years out to race in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) only to return to the BTCC in 2017. In his time in the BTCC, Chilton has driven numerous makes of cars from different manufacturers but has so far yet to pilot a BMW.

The English driver brings a wealth of experience competing in 384 races , achieving 14 wins, 59 podiums and a best championship of third in 2018.

Chilton said: “I’m really looking forward to joining Ciceley Motorsport in their new era. They are a great team, and the BMW will be ultra-competitive."

I’ve made no secret of my desire to change my lucky racing number 3 into the coveted number 1 and truly believe that the team and will provide me with the platform required to achieve my aim."

Since his third place in 2018, Chilton has struggled to find consistent form finishing in 10th in both 2019 and 2020 Championships.

A highlight of Chilton's 2020 campaign was at the season finale at Brands Hatch where he decided to start the race on the Wet tyre. He rocketed from 12th on the grid to lead the pack for the first opening eight laps. However, the track then started to dry out and Chilton was forced to pit which effectively took him out of the race.

The BMW is a popular choice on the BTCC grid with three teams choosing the German manufacturer last year.

Tetrosyl Ltd, who will remain as Ciceley's title sponsors for a second year, said: "This is our second year as team title sponsors alongside Ciceley Motorsport and with the experience and quality of both drivers and the introduction of our new BMWs we have everything we need for success.”
