BTCC race winner Tom Ingram will make the move to Excelr8 Motorsport for 2021 in what is being described as a "multi-year deal" as he targets the title in his eighth BTCC season.

After confirming a week ago that the partnership between himself and Speedworks Motorsport was to come to an end, Ingram, announced on his social media that an announcement on his BTCC plans for 2021 would be confirmed today.

Following his departure from Speedworks Motorsport, Ingram will join Chris Smiley and Jack Butel with a fourth and final driver yet to be confirmed by the team.

Ingram said: “I’m immensely excited to announce my new deal with EXCELR8 Trade Price Cars. When it became clear that commercially, we would not be able to continue with Speedworks, I spoke to a number of BTCC teams and to be honest, this was probably one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever had to make. We immediately ‘clicked’, right from the very first conversation."

With already 16 wins and over 40 podium finishes under his belt, Ingram will be leading the team and will be hoping to challenge for the championship this season.

Excerl8 Motorsport replaced their faithful MG6's with the all-new Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance last year and with Smiley and Senna Proctor behind the wheel, the team rocketed from 19th to 7th in the Overall Team's Championship with 5th in the Independent's Championship.

Having only driven the Toyota Avensis and Corolla since his debut in the series in 2014, Ingram was excited about getting behind the wheel of i30.

Ingram said: “The Hyundai has developed significantly over the past year, and it goes without saying that there’s a lot more potential – and pace – still to be extracted. It has almost the perfect body shape and wheelbase for the BTCC, blending the best attributes of the Toyota Corolla and Avensis that I’ve driven before, so I will be very surprised if we’re not a genuine contender for the championship this season – both the Independents’ title and the main one.
Justina Williams, Team Owner said: “I am absolutely delighted to have agreed a multi-year deal with Tom to drive for EXCELR8 Trade Price Cars. He is a proven race-winner and will no doubt also be a championship-winner. He will inevitably be a huge asset to our team and will continue to push us towards the sharp end of the BTCC grid.
